About Us

Attaquer Kit Climb

How it all started - my first ever job was as a young boy delivering prescriptions for the local chemist. Flash forward a few years and after moving back from the US I needed to get around ... so I bought a bike and instantly fell back in love with riding and everything associated with being on the bike.

Many moons later mtnbike.com.au was created on the back of the enjoyment of riding the best single track with my mates in Canberra. Our first trip was in June 2009 and there has been NO looking back. In early 2010 I was full time and no longer working the daily grind.

We still take these trips and they continue to grow in popularity.

'The family' has expanded and with it also including mtnbike and bikeshuttle.

After spending many months searching out European roads, trails, meeting the right people and following le tour it was time to begin our European Adventures.

Europe is one thing but we cannot neglect our own backyard. There are always large events on the horizon in Australia and we aim to be at the majority of them. We will take your bike to your event so that you have NO hassle and can focus on the event at hand.

I love being in the biking industry, whether it's taking people to amazing destinations, teaching people bike skills or transporting bikes and attending different bike events around the country.

There are just so amazing places to ride in this world both road and mountain bike destinations. I believe we have the right people, accommodation and destinations to make each trip a memorable experience. Come along and join our dedicated team on a trip for yourself.

Years Riding:

I'm getting old ... how about I just write since delivering prescriptions on my Chemist run in my early teens.

Why I Ride:

Amazing experiences, love feeling the wind in my hair (under my helmet) and when riding in built up areas I love watching traffic stand still while I'm on the move! Lately I've been lucky enough to travel around the world and have a bike with me. The world really is an amazing place and to see it on a road or MTB is truly breathtaking! I wouldn't change these experiences for anything, come along and see I mean!

Favourite Rides:

Thailand - Ko Samui fishing villages temples street food and smiles. Yes it’s spectacularly humid and hilly but the smiles of the people and the amazing country certainly make it worthwhile.

European adventures - well that’s a story. Back again soon. Come join.

United Kingdom - bottom to top bike packing.

Australia - as a Sydney based rider I feel lucky to have plentiful rides at my door. Gorges, bridges, beaches, National Parks and even the Blue Mountains. Great places to ride.

There there is Tasmania, Adelaide and The Sunshine Coast - all well worth visiting.

Years Riding:

One of my founding memories is hurtling down the side passage on a three wheel trike and skidding around the corner. Since then riding two wheels when I got my balance and racing BMX at the age of 12. Then on the track, followed by road, then back to dirt in the form of MTB's. A life spent peddling.

Why I ride:

It’s fun. It is the freedom to go anywhere, anytime with the added benefit of staying fit. I have met some great people riding bikes. Friendships made through cycling are friends made for life. It is a wonderful community that we have as cyclists and one that is global.

Background:

Along with cycling I’ve had a life in horticulture. Studies in Botanical Science,  Parks and Gardens plus Landscape Design and Construction.  So you will often find me stopped by the side of the road smelling the roses.
